“Tenemos que generar economía y, para eso, también por supuesto, trabajar con el frente social y contribuir a que la gente se desarrolle… Yo soy un convencido de que la industria minera, y especialmente la del cobre, a través del cuidado del medio ambiente con las energías alternativas, con los carros eléctricos y demás, va a tener un potencial de crecimiento enorme: por eso es que está subiendo el precio; claro porque hay mayor demanda, y a mayor demanda e igual consumo: sube el precio…. Bueno eso es lo que nosotros podemos potenciar entre Chile y Perú, pues producimos cerca del 40% del cobre del mundo y, por lo tanto, creo yo, si nos complementamos en este aspecto, podremos trabajarlo de la mano”.

Carlos Escaffi, director y analista internacional, vía coneXiones de Relaxiona Internacional, conversó en exclusiva con el ingeniero Roque Benavides, presidente ejecutivo de la Compañía de Minas Buenaventura, ex presidente de CONFIEP, decano del Consejo Departamental de Lima del Colegio de Ingenieros del Perú, presidente de la Sociedad Nacional de Construcción e Infraestructura y profesor del departamento académico de ingeniería de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú – PUCP y docente en la Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería – UNI.
Una interesante, dinámica y, sobre todo, provocadora entrevista en la que el ingeniero Roque Benavides nos entregó su mirada sobre distintos tópicos, desde el estatus de gobernabilidad y prospectiva bajo la actual coyuntura, además, se pronunció si es que Perú sigue siendo un destino de inversión extranjera.
En otro momento, el ingeniero Benavides habló sobre el optimismo de los empresarios en Perú, así como el rol de estos en la educación.
Finalmente, nos entregó sus reflexiones respecto del futuro de la minería y sobre las oportunidades de complementariedad y potencialidades conjuntas entre Chile y Perú, proponiendo, que ambos países deberían tener una gran zona franca del Cobre.
